Competition and Tournament stuff
West Coast Judo Tournaments extend from Seattle to San Diego with majority of them taking place over three zones; The Pacific Northwest, The Bay Area, and Southern California.
regardless of previous Judo experience; rank, or similar grappling experience (Jiujitsu rank) if you've never taken part in a Judo Tournament it is greatly advised that you enter your first event as a Novice White Belt.
Santa Rosa Judo Club enterers Judo Competitions via the Smoothcomp website.
Santa Rosa Judo Club is a member partner of all Judo Governing Bodies in the United States. We utilize the different governing bodies for various activities as described below.
United States Judo Association (USJA): This is our main academic governing body and the one which we administer rank examinations and academic promotions thru
United States Judo Federation (USJF): This is our main competitive governing body and the one which we promote based on tournament performance thru
USA Judo (formerly United States Judo Inc. USJI): This is our National and International competition governing body. This is primarily only used in the event of National Tournaments or Higher.
*Always check the registration requirements of the tournament you intend on entering. Some events my only accept one type of governing body affiliation.
Santa Rosa Judo Club is USJF Club #1372
Santa Rosa Judo Club utilizes the United States Judo Federation (USJF) for tracking all tournament performance and all promotions based upon tournament performance.
*Note
As with all Competition based promotional governing bodies; regardless of your current Judo or Jiujitsu rank (Yes even if you're a 20 year Jiujitsu Black belt or a Judo Brown Belt) if you've never competed in a Judo tournament; you should register as a Novice White Belt at least until after the results of your first Judo Tournament.

Santa Rosa Judo Club utilizes the USA Judo for all National Level and Higher tournament performance
*Note: Some tournaments below the National Level (Regional, Local. etc) may require USA Judo membership.
